“First off let me start off with the old cliché that if I can do this anyone can.

I was lying in bed on a day off of work and I was checking out Facebook when what I saw changed my life forever.

I messaged Paul for more info and the rest as they say is history. I must admit I was super nervous going into this but Paul and the other trainers at the Brickhouse that I have had the chance to work with are awesome. I had over a thousand excuses on why I shouldn’t go to the gym, everything from no time, to too much stuff to do. After the first workout and the very emotional car ride home, I knew I had to change my lifestyle and that the three nights a week had to come first ahead of any excuses and anything else I had going on in my life.

When I started this lifestyle change on July 11, 2011, I weighed in at 530 lbs.  It is now January 18, 2012, and I weigh 444 lbs. I went from a 6XL shirt to a 3XL and from a size 60 pant to a 56, I have lost 86 lbs and counting.

Every time I leave the gym I thank Paul not only for a great workout but also for saving my life and he always says, “You’re steering the ship brother, I’m just along for the ride.”

The support that I have from friends and family is unbelievable.  Without their support and those from Team 1000 and The Brickhouse I know I would not have had the success that I have had. Through a strict diet and solid workout routine I have accomplished my first goal pretty fast, losing the first 50 lbs, I am now focused on my second goal, to lose 100 lbs.

From years of wrestling and playing football I have had mobility limitations with bad knees and a lot of lower back pain. Paul has been able to adapt my workouts to accommodate and allow me to still get a great workout in without pushing my injuries.  My lower back pain is now gone and although I still have strain on my knees, it is not as great as it was when I first started.

For those who know me, you understand that Coaching Football is my passion and this season when I told my team of 14 year olds about my journey they were behind me hundred percent and I think back to the chant we used to say before each game and it rings true to my journey …

“HARD WORK PAYS OFF. HARD WORK PAYS OFF. HARD WORK PAYS OFF!”

For those who read this and think they can do it but have 1000 excuses not to go I ask you one question, ”What’s stopping you?”

The words that I think have pushed me the most are “It’s not a challenge but a push in the right direction.”  I think back to those words every time I am in the gym. I want to thank the Brickhouse crew for truly saving my life and helping me understand that when it comes to my own health nothing should come before that.

As I type this I feel myself getting emotional and it’s not out of sadness but the fact that I hope that all my notes on Facebook and maybe even this letter here will inspire someone to join me and join team 1000 at the Brickhouse and take control of their life and allow Paul and the rest of the crew to help them on that journey as they have and are helping me.

Thank you ”
